The Highest!

"...The LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth" (Genesis 14:22). God owns and controls what to man is unmeasured and limitless: the vast expanse of heaven and earth. They are solely His right and possession. He is most high!

"...The most High divided to the nations their inheritance..." (Deuteronomy 32:8). What men and nations thought they conquered, annexed, or purchased, was actually allotted to them by God before hand according to His divine appointment. You see, He is the Most High!

"For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods" (Psalm 97:9). Take any god that has ever been known and invented by man and you will have a god far inferior to the Lord. He is "glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders" (Exodus 15:11). Having known the Lord, who could ever think highly of any other god? Never forget He alone is the incomparable Most High!

"...LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?" (Psalm 35:10). Those who are too strong for me melt before the intervention of the Highest. He stands for the defenseless and the weak; He supports and delivers the poor, the needy, and the oppressed. That's the Most High God!

"Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!" (Psalm 71:19). God's power, position, and authority far exceed any and all other for He is the Highest. And His righteousness and deeds are no less high and grand. His character shall never be matched nor superseded. Without question and without credible challenge, He is the Highest!

There you have just a few verses that pull back the curtain a bit on the greatness and grandeur of He Who is Almighty and Most High. He is the One "that pardoneth iniquity...because he delighteth in mercy" (Micah 7:18). O Lord, who shall compare "to thy faithfulness round about thee" (Psalm 89:8)? And how shall we answer His question in Isaiah 40:25 -- "To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal?" No one else has His faithfulness. Nobody else is like or equal to Him. He is the Most High, Who will not give His glory or praise to anyone or anything else (Isaiah 42:8)!

Responding to the Highest

"I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High" (Psalm 9:2). Shall those who know the Highest continue long is sadness, dejection, and discouragement?!

"I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me" (Psalm 57:2). How can the servants of the Most High trust in someone or something so far less than He?!

"But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and ...ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil" (Luke 6:35). Have you ever thought of this as a life response to Him Who is the Highest?
